New paper just accepted in Ultramicroscopy! If you want to learn how machine learning can be used to chart the low-loss region of electron energy loss spectroscopy, take a look at the paper here.
Congratulations to Laurien!!
Today Abel have joined our group!
Abel starts as a PhD student after having successfully completed his MSc project also with us.
Looking forward to do great science together!
When high-energy physics meets material science great things can happen. Many congratulations to Laurien for publishing her first paper even before finishing her MSc project.
Great collaboration with Nikhef and more is yet to come!
On Monday 27th and on Thursday 30th of July James and Abel successfully defended their BSc and MSc theses respectively. Congratulations James and Abel, it was a real pleasure having you in our group!
Today Sonia has been awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Professor. Many thanks to all our colleagues, collaborators, and friends that have made this possible, and specially to all the past and present members of the ConesaBoj lab for all their amazing work!
We celebrated these good news with a nice barbecue!
Magda’s paper on Robust Sample Preparation of Large-Area In- and Out-of-Plane Cross Sections of Layered Materials with Ultramicrotomy has been published in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces today! Congrats to Magda, Maarten, and Sabrya!
Luigi’s and Miguel’s paper on metallic edge states in zig-zag vertically-oriented MoS2 nanowalls has been published in Scientific Reports today! Congrats to both of you!
A group of researchers, awardees of the Ingvar Carlsson Award from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, visited our lab today. Thanks for coming, it was a pleasure to meet you and show you our group and our lab! And thanks also to Kobus Kuipers for introducing Quantum Nanoscience to our Swedish friends!
Our research has been showcased by the Home of Innovation initiative at TU Delft, which highlights innovative projects across all the university, see here for more details.
Thanks to Erwin Suvaal from CVIII ontwerpers for the nice cartoon!
This Monday we welcome Sabrya van Heijst to our group. She will be carrying out her MSc research project with us.
The European Research Council has just announced that our lab has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant!!
Thanks to the support of this ERC grant, we will be able to study how the unique properties of layered materials (LMs), which are fully functional down a single atomic layer, can be further expanded and enriched by exploiting the one-dimensional geometry.
We welcome Maarten Bolhuis to our group as new MSc student!
The NWO and the Dutch minister of Science and Education have announced an investment of 17M€ for NEMI, the Netherlands Electron Microscopy Infrastructure.
Within NEMI, Delft will focuse on research in the field of material science for quantum technologies. Especifically , the Conesaboj Lab (Electron Nanoscopy of Quantum Materials) receives €900K to upgrade the Titan TEM microscope to carry out new material research at the nanoscale.
More information can be found in this link.
On February 8th Dave Dekker successfully defended his MSc thesis “Mapping the nature of electrical properties in hybrid nanowires using electron microscopy”.
Our first paper was published today in Nano Letters: “Strain-Dependent Edge Structures in MoS2 Layers“.
It was fun to introduce the research of our group to the young generation of Applied Physics students at the Orientatie op Natuurkundig Onderzoek.
New paper accepted in Nano Letters ”Observation of Conductance Quantization in InSb Nanowire Networks“.
